Farewell Party for Mrs. E. A. W. Henley
NAPIER, Feb. 9. rhe Napier Plunket Committee entertained their popular president, Mrs E. A. W. Henley, yesterday afternoon, at the residence of Mrs Hector Smith, “Orrnlie,” Korokipo. Mrs Smith, who is hon. secretary of the committee and had kindly offered her home for the function, received in a model frock of navy and white silk marocain made with bishop sleeves and finished with a charming white corsage brooch. She was assisted by her daughters, the Misses O. and J. Smith, who wore dainty white tennis frocks. Mrs Henley was frocked in black and white figured georgette mad© with attractively scalloped sleeves and with corsage posy of violets. With it slio wore a smart model hat, the crown trimmed with flowers and finished with veiling. The afternoon was spent in tennis, mah-jong and bridge. A delicious after* noon tea was served in the dining-room, Which was decorated with bowls of belladonna lilies. After tea, the opportunity was taken to make a presentation to the guest of honour, who leaves for England early »u March. On behalf of the committee Mrs Hector Smith, who made a very nice speech, handed a handsome travelling rug to Mrs Henley and ashed her to accept it with their best wishes for an enjoyable trip, happy holiday and safe return. Mrs Henley expressed hex thanks very heartily. , Mrs L. S. McClurg, on behalf of the connnittf/9, thanked Mm Smith for her kindness in offering her home uud entertaining them for the afternoon. The following members of the Plunket committee were present: Mesdames R. M. Chadwick, C. O. Morse, T. M. Geddis (vice-president), H. Tonkin, H. W. Williams, L. Rolls, A. E. Lawry, L. S. McClurg, G. B. Amyes, T. B. Ferguson, W. Bryant, E. N. Stewart, N. Troutbeck, G. F. Gardiner, Brierly, W. Forsyth, McDougall and Mis© E. Loudoun. Also present were Mesdames F. N. Fussell, T. H. Gilray, F. Mayne and D. A. C. Will.
