The Deanevirke A. and P. Association is in, receipt of a donation of £25 from Messrs Williams and Kettle, to* wards the rostrum at the showgrounds. At Tuesday's meeting of the Dannevirke Hospital Board it was decided in future that patients be addressed by the nurses as “Mr./ 1 “Mrs.," or ••Miss," an innovation which has re cently been adopted by other boards of the Dominion. The acting-matron (Sister Murray) reported to the Dannevirke Hospital Board on Tuesday that during the month the hospital had been fairly busy. All candidates were successful at the recent State examination. Sister Pringle was leaving this month for Wellington. Staff Nurse M. Barton had been appointed relieving sister. Gifts had been received as follow: Magamines, Mr. Olsen, Awariki; flowers, Mrs. Stanley; vegetables, Mr. Coe, Waiaruhe. The medical superintendent (Dr. W. Beedie) reported that there were at present in hospital 60 patients—2s men, 22 women and 13 children. During January 26 surgical operations were performed and there were 25 cases for X-ray examination, and 182 massage treatments. At the monthly meeting of the Weber County Council this week, the chair* man, Cr. J. C. Hales, and the engineer Mr. W. J. Frethy, outlined the discussion at the recent conference of local bodies in reference to the Dannevirke airport, and after considerable discussion it was resolved that the Weber County Council, being in sympathy with the endeavours to secure the aerodrome site, agrees to a further confer ence between the local authorities to draw up a pro rata basis of contribu lion. Cr. Speedy expressed the opinion that it was questionable whefher ratepayers' money should be applied to such a project. Browne, matron of the Daanevirke hospital, is at present on annual leave, and her duties are being carried out by Sister Murray, submatron.
