Apiti Ewe Fair
There were very large attendances of interested buyers and spectators at both the N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co. sale and the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., sales in Apiti on Tuesday afternoon. Good ewes sold well and tho following prices were recorded at tho Farmers’ Distributing Co. sale, tho auctioneer being Mr. J. Telford; 2-th ewes, 43s 2d, 40s 6d, 35s 7d; 0-th to 4yr. ewes, 33s lOd; 4yr. ewes, 38s 6d, 38s Id, 27s 7d; 4 and Syr. ewes, 34s 6d, 29s 6d, 25s Od, 255; Syr. ewes, 355, 34s 3d, 31s 7d, 31s Od, 23s Od; Oyr. ewes, 19s 6d; s.m. ewes, 245, 235, 20s Id; 4-th wethers, 24s 8d; 2-th wethers, 23s Gd; w.f. lambs, 18s 3d, 173 Bd, 10s 4d, 14s 9d; b.f. lambs, 17s Bd, 17s 4d, 12s; ewe lambs, 22s 9d, 22a;
wether lambs, 24s 6d. Total yarding, 2500 sheep. • There was keen demand for horses and the following prices were realised: On account of Mr. W. J. Viles, 4yr. gelding, £3B; syr. mare, £37; 3yr. gelding, £3O; 3yr. filly, £39 10s.
At the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. salo the top price for ewe lambs was 365. A line of small 2-th ewes sold at 40s 2d. Old ewes were poor selling at about £1 a head. Lambs averaged about 17s.
