Feilding Municipal Band
RESIGNATION OF CONDUCTOR. The committee of the Feilding Municipal Band met on Tuesday evening, Mr T. Collins (Mayor) presiding. There were also present Messrs P. G. Guy, E. A. Garlick, G. Wilkinson, W. Wilkinson, H. Kent, W. H. Clayton, A. Woods and C. H. Tate (secretary). Messrs P. P. Stevens, L. Bould and A. Woods were elected to the general committee. The resignation of Mr R. L. Lowe as conductor of the band was accepted with regret and the meeting proceeded to discuss ways and means of filling the vacancy. It was finally agreed to invite applications for the position at a salary of £75. The meeting decided to forward a letter to Mr Lowe recording its appreciation of his services. The matter of ruuning a carnival to assist the funds of the band was discussed and it was decided to approach the Feilding Football executive, the Feilding Cricket Association and the Feilding Pipe Band with the view to the co-operation of these bodies. To fur* ther tho object a meeting of delegates will be held shortly. Arrangements, it was announced, were in hand to make a presentation to Mr C. Simmons, a member of the committee, who is shortly leaving for England.
