Mr. A. Cowdery, senior inspector of the Department of Health, Wellington, is on an official visit to Hastings and Napier. The Director of Hospitals, Dr. R. A. Shore, and the Director of the Division of Nursing, Aliss AI. Larnbie, are at present making a tour of inspection of the Napier Public and Hastings Memorial Hospitals. Rev. C. B. Wall, of Napier, has been appointed secretary of the Hawke ’a Bay Football Association in succession to the late Air. Henderson. Mr. G. B. Young, Senr., has been appointed assistant secretary. Air. J. T. Daly, headmaster of Kaiti School, Gisborne, has been appointed to take charge of the N&pier Central School and will leave Poverty Bay towards the end of the month. Mr. Daly has been headmaster of Kaiti School for tho past two years. Air. J. G. Caughley, of Christchurch, and formerly of Takapau, has received notice that he was successful in passing for the diploma in education at the Canterbury College University examinations. Mr. M. G. McCaul, president of tho Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, and Mr. A. O. Henry, the Dominion secretary, will be in Hastings on Wednesday next, February 17, when they will attend a luncheon meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce. Air. T. E. Bodley, of Hastings, has received word from th© University of New Zealand that he has passed his engineering preliminary in the University Entrance Examination. By a mistake on the part of tho University, it was stated that only one of the two Hastings boys who sat for this subject passed, but an amendment has now been made. Miss Nancy Dwight, Waipawa, has left on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Air. F. Dahlberg, Norsewood, has returned from Christchurch, where he has been visiting relatives. Mr. Alf. Dahlberg accompanied him, and is the guest of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Dahlberg. Miss Faith Lawrence, Hastings, it spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Airs. W. Lawrence, Tipapar kuku. Alias M. Shone, Gisborne, is on a holiday visit to Hastings and staying with Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Poppelwell, Heathcote avenue. Mrs. J. Wilson, New Plymouth, is the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Braeken Wilson, Hastings. Mrs. Miriama Chambers, New Plymouth, is visiting Havelock North. Mr. and Mrs. Melville 8011, Havelock North, who have been staying in Dunedin with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wright, are now the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. JI. Burr, Roberts street, Hastings, until Friday, when they leave for England. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Benge, Napier, are visiting Wanganui. Miss M. Washer, Hawera, is paying a short visit to Hastings and Napier. Air. N. H. Hubbard, of Waipukurau, is recovering from an operation he had last week. Mr. R. Stabler and Miss M. Stabler, of Waipukurau, are visiting Wellington.
