Feilding Magistrate’s Court

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS Tho fortnightly sitting of the Feilding Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., presiding. For disobedience of a maintenance order, Albert M. Prendergast was convicted and sentenced to three weeks’ imprisonment, tho warrant to be suspended on payment of £5. The defendant’s application for a variation of the order was mot with the cancellation of all arrears owing with the exception of £5 and he was allowed a week in which to find this sum. Arising out of an accident which happened on the Waituna road on October 30 last between a horse ridden by Edward G. England and a motor-cycfj ridden by Roy McDonald, both parties appeared in the Court to answer charges for breaches of the traffic regulations. England was charged with failing to keep to the left centre of the road and McDonald with driving in a manner dangerous to public safety. England, after lengthy evidence had been heard, was convicted and fined Iss and £1 15s costs, while the information against McDonald was dismissed.
