From Our Own Correspondent New Tennis Courts. Mr Wm. Anderson presided at a meeting of the Tennis Club on Thursday evening, when the tenders submitted for the new courts were discussed, the successful tender being that of Mr E. Wiggins, of Palmerston North. Work is to commence early in the week. The secretary was Instructed to obtain quotes- for various forms of netting supports. Various other small matters pertaining to the courts were finalised. On Saturday a further tennis match was played on the Ashhurst courts between the local teams and those from the Ashhurst Club. The match resulted in a win for the Ashhurst players. Euchre and Dance. There was a good attendance at the 1 Tennis Club euchre and dance, held on Saturday night. The prizes were won by Mrs A. Ferguson and Mrs B. Mitchell (consolation), and Mr J. A. Smith and Mr W. Froud (Wellington) was the consolation winner. Supper was provided by club members and served by the ladies, after which dancing Was continued. The music was kindly supplied by Mesdames L. Craven and Campbell (Ashhurst), and Miss M. Anderson and Mr L. Craven. The club’s thanks are duo to Miss E. Anderson and Mrs Craven for donating the prizes for the evening. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs, Campbell (Ashhurst). Mr A. Hopcroft was M.C. Personal Deepest sympathy is is extended to Mr and Mrs H. G. Robertson, in their recent sad bereavement. * The friends pf Mr W. Goslong, Jr., will regret to learn that ho had the misfortune to sustain a bad fall during the early part of last week, which resulted in painful wrist injuries. Friends will wish him a speedy recovery.
