From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis Meeting Members of tho tennis committee, comprising Mrs Oxenham. (secretary), Miss, Vautler, Messrs W. Vautier (chairman), F. Eagle, E. Neweombe, and H. Wood, have decided to commence immediately the Club competition. For the'championship the play will bo nine games advantage for men and seven up ror ladies, the finals to be the best of three sets, six up. The handicap events are to be GO points advantage. The first round of Doth ciiam- ! pionshlp and handicap events must bo completed by February 22, and any games not completed by that date will be scratched, without further notice. All finals will be played on a club day. Fallowing are the draws for the first round in tho singles events. Misses Jean McPike and Leila Gubb, are visitors from Hukutaia who returned home during the week-end. They had been staying with Mr and Mrs F. Coutts. A large number of speedway enthusiasts attended the meeting held last Wednesday and it was noticeable that, with visions of speed still in their minds, the drivers travelled home at a much faster pace. His friends will be pleased to learn that Ken Puklowsky, who has been In hospital with appendicitis, is now on the convalescent list. Returned from a holiday at Eketahuna with relatives, is Miss Jean Harvey. On Saturday afternoon a motor-cycle camo to grief In the ditch beside the bridge near the factory corner. With a companion, also on a motor cycle, the rider was apparently unable to take the bend. The machine was considerably damaged, while the cyclist, who received slight injuries to his back, was removed to hospital. lie was a visitor from Wellington. Miss Winnie Vautier has returned from an enjoyable holiday spent with her sister, Mrs A. V. Lancaster, Koraaknui. Congratulations to numerous prizewinners at tho Fellding Show. Mesdames J. Spall, A. C. Harvey and Miss M. Vautier figured prominently In tho domestic section, and Messrs S. Oxenham and A. C. Harvey received prizes with their horses in the draught section. The Women’s Institute received, very good marks in Its section. Mr Ivan Vautier has returned from a holiday spent in the To Awamutu district. Members are reminded, of the Women’s Institute meeting which will be held on tho 17th of this month. Menfolk are especially invited and ladles aro asked to bring them along. There will be a competition for scones for men, cherryrplum jam for ladles and one perfect flower. An attractive programme of competitions, etc., lias been arranged for this first meeting of the year. Miss Jean’ Wood is away on holiday. She is the guest of Mrs J. Port and family, at Levin..
