OTAKI DEFEATS SHANNON By 11 seta to 5 and 118 games to 95, Otaki defeated Shannon in the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association’s interclub competitions (southern division). Scores were as follows, Otaki players mentioned first: — Men’s singles.—Evans lost to Batt 5 —9, Benge beat Graham 9 —6, Derham lost to Boyd 2—9, Morgan beat -Robinson 9 —6. Women’s Singles.—Mrs Evans beat Miss Moynihan 7 —l, Miss fet. George lost to Mrs Graham 4 —7, Miss Harper beat Mrs Stern 7 —4, Miss Sawyer beat Mrs Gyde 9—7. Men’s Doubles.—Evans and Benge beat Batt and Graham 9 —3, Derham and Morgan beat Boyd and Robinson 9—4. Women’s doubles: Mrs Evans and Miss St. George boat Miss Morgan and Mrs Graham 7 —5, Misses Harper and Sawyer beat Mesdames Stern and Gyde 7—5.
Mixed doubles: Evans and Mrs Evans lost to Batt and Miss Moynihan 6—9. Benge and Miss St. George beat Graham and Mrs Graham 11—9, Derham and Miss Harper lost to Boyd and Mrs Stern B—lo, Morgan and Miss Sawyer beat Robinson and Mrs Gyde 9—l.
