BEAUTY LOTIONS.

PLEASANT HOT WEATHER AIDS. Oatmeal and powdered orrisroot make a pleasant .toilet powder in hot weather. Powdered orrisroot can Ibe mixed with oatmeal, a teaspoon of Epsom salts and a pinch of borax put into a muslin bag.; it will then make your bath pleasant and refreshing. Witch hazel is very useful. It can be made into an astringent by mixing it in like quantities with rosewater and hydrogen peroxide, with two drops of spirit of camphor; or It can be made into a tonic mixed with rosewater, the proportion being one teaspoon to two tablespoons of rosewater. For oily skin it is splendid as a tonic. Calomine lotion is a good and safe bleach, and it will remove decolourations; and it will also remove surface blemishes. For sunburn and all soreness of the skin, it is excellent.

Another beauty point to remember is that soft soap melted over a slow fire makes a very good shampoo
