Christians’ Duty To Defend Country
PACIFICISM CONDEMNED LONDON, Feb. 5. “It can be a Christian duty to kill,” declared the Archbishop of York, speaking at a Church Assembly at Westminster. He expressed the opinion that pacific agitation was increasing the danger of war. The Assembly passed a resolution recognising the Government’s right to maintain the necessary defence forces end stating that Christians may bear arms for that policy. The Bishop of London declared that the real dangers to peace were pacifists, “There is no great danger of war if wo are strong enough,” he declared. 44 1 f wp adopted the view of pacifists in 1914 either a German emperor or Herr Hitler would now bo at Whitehall.
