Australian Witnesses in Court Case

BROKER CHARGED WITH THEFT. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 5. William Wallace McClelland, sharebroker, aged 52, faced fourteen charges of theft involving £2626 8s 6d this morning in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr. E. C. Lovvey, S.M. Three Australian witnesses gave evidence. They were Detective-Sergeant A. L. Nye arid Detective-Constable H. W. Miller, of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the New South Wales State Police, und Air. P. H. Curtis, chief accountant for the Producers and General Finance Corporation, Ltd., of Sydney. Evidence had been taken previously from persona mentioned in the charges who claimed .that they had given McClelland the money as payment for shares which, they said, they had never received.

Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
