Commenting on the decrease in fhe passenger traffic this year, the stationmaster attributed this to the prevalence of infantile paralysis and tho bad weather. The large increase in the outward returns for sheep was due to the lateness of the season. Goods tonnage showed an increase which was principally due to the heavy loading of wool from the district and the local scouring works. Dealing with the inwards returns Mr Finlay stated that the heavy movement of store sheep and lambs was responsible for the larger transhipments, which were in turn caused by the rapidly rising market for stock. The lull in the timber trade was reflected in the smaller amount of footage handled by the railway this year.
