Feilding Municipal Band
ANNUAL REPORT. Mr L. Collins, president of the Feilding Municipal Band, presented the following annual report at the annual meeting held last evening:— Finance: Definite progress has again been made undor this heading, the accounts showing a gain of £32 4s 4d for the year. Commencing with a credit bulaneo of £G 18s the year ended with a credit of £39 2s 4d. Receipts totalled £l6O und payments £127 15s Bd. Bpccial efforts: The most important effort for the year was the Gala King Carnival—organised jointly by the Athletic Association, the Pipe k'&ihl and your own band—which rcsultcG »u ft net share of £26 Is 3d. Your committee is indebted to those who assisted in the carnival on its behalf, especially to the ladies. The raffle resulted in a net profit of £l4 17s fid. Christmas carols returned £36 Gs fid, an increuse of nearly £6 over the previous year, and the thanks of the committee are again due to those responsible for such a splendid result. Band activities: The band played its usual outdoor programmes and assisted at various public functions in addition to which two programmes were broadcast from 2ZO. A pleasing feature this year bus been the number of learners joining up, with creditable results. The matter of the venue ol the 1938 contest will shortly bo decided aud should Pulmorston North be selected (and indications point that way) this band will have a splendid opportunity to take part. Playing members should, therefore, concentrate wholeheartedly on practices during the ensuing year. General: Removals from the district wore responsible for the loss by your committee of two of its most valued members, Messrs C. S. Jeffs and O. Scotney. Their places will be most difficult to fill. In view of the probability of the ound being able to take part the lfi3B coutcst, it will be necessary to concentrate on the establishment of a special fund for this purpose. It is trusted, therefore, that a stromr committee will bo available for the ensuing year. In conclusion I take the opportunity of again thanking the committee, olii cials and baridsmcu for their assistance during tho past year.
