Firming Up in Flock Ram Values

STUD LOTS NOT WANTED. Close upon 1300 stud and flock Rom r.ey Marsh rams were put through th sale ring at the Feilding ram fai yesterday before a largo attendance o buyers. At the outset with the sellinj of the flock rams entered in the Feild ing show classes bidding was mos spirited and values soared to surges something in the nature of a boom sale After the disposal of the show sheep however, the market became quiete although it was generally firm for thlarger proportion of the flock rams Studs were offered immediately afte the luncheon adjournment but verj little interest was displayed in thesi and values were, considering the price paid for some of the flock lots, vor] much on the low side. The rams cairn forward in excellent condition and tin selling throughout, as far as flock lot: were concerned, reflected the improve? conditions on tho wool and meat mar kct. Stud rams averaged 1111 guineas show flock rams about 17 guiuoas auc ordinary flocks close upon G guineas. Tho best price for a stud was ill guineas which was paid for a shoe] offered on account of Mr. W. 11. Giosou of Kiwitea. {Second place in price fo studs was obtained by Messrs. A. Browi and Sou of Kiwitea, who sold two a 28 guineas each. Of the show sheep Messrs. A. Drover aud Son obtained the best price of 3( guineas for the ram w'hich secured firs prize in class 173 (single ram). Thes< _ breeders also obtained the highest prio-i of 111 guineas for a single flock ram. The best average jjrico for flock rami was obtained by Mr. 11. B. Johnston, oj Cheltenham, whose eight flock rams reu lised 150 guineas or an average of jus short of 20 guineas.
