Captain E. T. R. Carlyou and his wife and family, of Gwavas, Tikokino, have booked passages to England and will leavo about the middle of April. It is their intention to reside in England for bout a year. i Mr. 11. V. Mountier, telegraph engin- ' jcr at Napier, has been transferred to ' Wellington. Entering the service in ' 1921, Mr. Mountier was first in the engineer's branch at Wellington, being ■ transferred to Christchurch as assistant 1 engineer in 1925. During the succeeding nine and a-half years he was in turn in charge of the West Coast, 1 South Canterbury and East Canterbury districts, although still stationed at Christchurch. He went to Napier from , Christchurch in April, 1935, succeeding Mr. H. G. Lakcman. Mrs. J. L. Chambers, Morea station, . was a visitor to Gisborne for the . On tho occasion of tho twenty-first birthday of their elder daughter Hazel, Air. and Airs. A. Hutt entertained well over 100 guests at a very jolly dance in the Ongaonga hall on Alonday night. Tho hall had been beautifully decorated with greenery und streamers, which
presented a very gay scene, Supper was served, after which Air. llutt presented his daughter with a beautiful gold key. Tho guest of honour then opened a won derful array of gifts. During the evening a spot waltz was won by Air. Geo. Fletcher and Aliss Green, and a AJoutu Carlo by Mr. N. Taylor and Aliss Freeman tie.
