Tho Pahiatua Showground grandstand, which suffered in tho earthquake sumo throo years ago and was ugaiu badly battered m lust year's storm when it was unroofed, is undergoing a thor* OUgh renovation. A new roof of galvanised iron has beou fitted in place and many improved additions made. In the frunt portion of the stand tho seating has been freshly laid down. The southern end of the stand is to bo glassed in, this work being done to-day and will be finished before the show. Tho whole of the exterior is being painted, but it is doubtful whether this will be done in time for the Show; the patrons of the A. and P. Show and tho Bush Rugby Union matches will havo reason to be pleased at tho good job the contractor has made.

Two rinks from Lketahuna defeated Pahiatua for the Oxley Cup on the local green on Wednesday afternoon. In Oxley Cup matches tho aggregate heads won are counted when the team loses, as happened in this case. Pahiatua was represented by Murphy, G. Chatwin, Pilkiuton and Kershaw (a.) who defeated Smith, Payne, Tomlinson and Hornblow (s.) by 11 heads (27 points) to 10 (17 points); and Gregory, Cosford, Petersen and A. W. Bisset (s.), who lost to tho second Eketahuna rink, Rogers, Taylor, Fredericksou and Simpson (s.) by 9 heads (13 points) to 12 (19 points). Eketahuna thus secured a narrow win and tho Oxley Cup by 22 heads to 20.
