Left in the Lift

ANOTHER ELEVATOR STRIKE IN NEW YORK. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 9.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 3. A small scale reproduction of last year's building service strike halted elevators in a forty-two storey office building for four hours and spread to seventeen smaller buildings before a truce was effected. The union announced that strikes were planned in a number of apartment buildings uuless the contracts were renewed. Several people were forced to walk down fortytwo floors but apparently none attempted to go up. One of the tenants marooned on the twenty-eighth floor was the international vice-president of the union who telephoned a complaint to the management. He was unaware that the strike was on.
