BIG DECREASE FOR YEAR Per Press Association. - WELLINGTON, Last Night. Tho Labour Department announces that ou January 16, 1937, the total number of males wholly or partly dependent on the Employment Promotion Fund was 37,820. Tho following table compares the position at December 19 ; 1930, and January 16, 1937: Dec. 19. Jan. 1C Registered but not eligible or not placed on relief 2,037 2,834 Receiving rationed relief work under scheme No. 5 30,085 7,874 Receiving sustenance without work 20,1G4 20,708 Receiving full time employment wholly or partly paid from the Employment Promotion Fund .. .. .. .. 0,786 *6,404 Totals 39,072 37,820 Decrease during the four weekly period ended January 10, 1937, 1252. A comparison between the figures for January 16, 1937, and those for January 18, 1930, shows a reduction of 18,682.
