Herd-Testing Record
OVER 100,000 COWS HAMILTON, Feb. 2. The largest number of cows tested by the New Zealand Co-operative HerdTesting Association since its inception was handled in Decmbcr, while the uverage production for that month reached an exceptionally high standard, due largely to an abundant supply *>f green feed consequent on tho heavy rainfall. The association tested 106,621 cows, which gave an average yield of 781 b. of milk and 33.G1b: butterfat, with n test of 4.00. In December, 1935, 92.546 cows were tested, the production per row averaging 7571 b. of milk and 34.31 b. of butterfat. with a test of 4.53. The association dealt with 100,641 cows in December, 1934, the average production being 7501 b. of milk and 33.31 b. ot fat, with a test of 4.45. The highest group in the association in December, 1936, was Alatiere, the 438 cows tested giving an average return of 8371 b. of milk and 421 b. of butterfat, with a test of 4.97, and the best herd was one at Alatangi, the 46 cows yielding an average of 581 b. of fat. The highest individual producing cow was a Waitoa animal, which gave a return of 1241 b. of butterfat for the month.
