Hastings Catholics Farewell Father Stewart

Parishioners of the Catholic Church in Hastings gathered in the church hall on Tuesday night to bid farevftli to their parish priest, Rev. Father Stewart, who left yesterday morning to lake charge of tho Tcmuka parish. There was a large assemblage, which completely filled the hall, and tho high esteem and affection in which the departing pastor was held was plainly indicated in the tributes that wero paid to his work by members of his parish and by his fellow-priests in the district. During the evening Father Sf*\tart was made the recipient of a presentation, and opportunity was also taken of welcoming the new incumbent, Father McDonald.

Speakers emphasised the fino work that Father Stewart had performed during his six years at Hastings, and assured him that his efforts had not been in vain.
