The "leads” division was won by Mr A. Simpson (Bulls) with G wins out of 8 games. Stone (Marton) with 65 wins, was runner-up. Three ‘‘skips” tied in their divisions with 6 wins each. Stevens (Bulls) then played Hamer (Marton). His first bowl was short, while Hamer was over the read, a yard behind. Stevens, with his next, lay the shot, Hamer drove but was “wooded” and shifted only one bowl. The last bowls failed to alter the head. Stevens then played off the final with Atkinson, of Marton. Both were over “kitty” with their first. Stevens drew the shot with his second, Atkinson failing to improve the position with his third, being short, and the final bowls left Stevens still one up. For second place Hamer and Atkinson played off, Hamer being two up when he played his last bowl Polo Club. A practice game was played at Bulls on Saturday, when some interesting polo took place. The ponies and players are now getting into their stride. The day was rather rough, a heavy westerly wind blowing making things unpleasant. The ground, though a bit holding, was on the whole in good order. Fourteen players were present and took part in the day’s play. The ladies supplied afternoon tea, which was greatly appreciated. Rifle Shooting. The Rangitikei Defence Rifle Club fired its usual weekly shoot on Saturday, conditions being boisterous. Heavy westerly winds were the order, but W. Jenkins beat the wind and its tricks at 600 yards by getting them “all in” following a good “all but” 34 at 300 yards. But the conditions got even worse at 600 yards and pushed him back to 29, his total of 98 being a real good shoot on the day. Fto 4 lowing are the detailed scores over 30u, 500 and 600 yards:—W.
