At the wool sales 13,993 bales were offered and 10,740 sold, also 2522 privately. There was strong Continental und Yorkshire competition and more extensive support from Japanese buyers. The market for all descriptions was very firm at the closing rates of last week. Greasy Merino sold to 37*d. The average price of wool last week was £22 12s 3d per tThlo or 18.3 d per lb.
