Store Lambs Par to Better
STOCK MARKET AT WAIPUKURAU (Special to “Times”) WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 2. Store lambs agalu constituted tho principal offering at Waipukurau to-day, when values on the basis of quality were fully on a par to bettor than those realised at late sales. In the yarding of 9,000 there was a wide rango to select from, with second-quality lines predominating. Useful black-faced rape lines in forward order met with keen competition, with values reaching to 22/10. Shorn Romney-cross wether lambs lacked the quality of last week’s offering but mado to 18/-. Ewe lambs were again small-grown, the beet making 24/-. The top price of the sale for outstanding lambs was 23/2 for a Bplendid entry of black-faced on account of Mr T. A. Howard, of Hatuma. , Breading ewes were on offer in increased numbers when an attractive , entry from Mt. Vernon Station of 6-ths . made 35/5. Six-year-old entries, poorly mouthed, brought 21/-. A fair offer of fat and forward wethers were yardod, ■ the outstanding entry being two lines of 4-ths in excellent order and in from Porangahau, both realising the splendid value of 27/-. In the cattle section the only draft showing quality was on account of Mr W. A. Couper, of Otane, 30-montbs-old . Aberdeen-Angus -steers readily finished as chillers, which sold at £3O 6/-. Also on account of Mr Couper, a splendid 1 entry of similarly-bred 18-months-old steers realised £8 5/-. The remainder of the cattle entries were of a nondescript nature and of - inferior quality.
