Hotel Accommodation
NAPIER SHORTAGE AT HOLIDAYS. HASTINGS, Last Night. In view of tho acute shortage of hotel accommodation experienced by visitors to Napier in the Christmas and New Year holidays, a Napier resident suggested to-day that some preparation should be made for a similarly largo influx of visitors during the Easter holidays. He suggested that some responsible body should make a roster of all places at which visitors would be likely to obtain accommodation, and that the list should be revised regularly so that visitors could obtain any accommodation offering without a systematic search of tho town.
Between Christmas and New Year’s Day every public and private hotel in Napier was filled, the area at the Napier motor camp was taxed to the utmost, and parties of visitors were compelled to ask at private houses for shelter for the night. The visiting cricket players from Manawatu and Palmerston North, engaged in the junior cricket week matches at McLean Park, Napier, were installed at Greenmeadows, and those who came later were hard put to it to find accommodation for a single night.
