Muffs Are to be Carried

The newest and certainly the most useful gown I have seen at a leading dressmaker’s establishment in London is one which sounds extremely simple but is extraordinarily attractive, states an overseas writer. It is a combination of soft woollen material and satin. The one I saw was in black; the flared tunic was in the woollen material, made high at the neck. At the back it fastened with a zip; the narrow skirt was of black satin, slit at the side, and round the waist was draped a very wide sash of satin, tied in a big flat bow at the side, with long sash ends. This dress, worn under a fur coat, with hat and muff of matching fur, is "ready for anything.’* A word about muffs. They are to be worn, or rather carriod, on overy occasion this winter, not only fur muffs, but muffs made of velvet flowers in exquisite shades. One I envied was in wallflower shades, to be carried with a brown velvet gown; another had masses of violets, shading from mauve to deep purple, and went with an amethyst coloured frock. The floral muff is matched to blossoms worn in the hair, with a dress suitable for a cocktail party. There id no end to the beautiful colour schemes that can be evolved—scarlet geraniums and leaves with a black gown; pink petals or whito for a debutante’s frock; and one entirely of liles-of-the-vailev, with a taffetas moire dress in lime green.
