Of Local Interest
Mrs. M. J. Swan, who was the first teacher at the Kaitawa School, accompanied by her nephew, Master Eric Banks (both of Takahue, North Auckland), have returned home after an extended holiday spent in tho Pahiatua district, Hawke’s Bay, Wanganui and Palmerston North. While in Pahiatua Mrs. Swan was the guest of her daughters, Mrs. G. Gleeson, Mangaramarama, and Mrs. Allsop, Ruawhata. Although now 86 years of age, Mrs. Swan thoroughly enjoyed her stay, revisiting old and familiar places. Miss Murrell, who left the employ of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., on Saturday, and who is being married shortly, was the recipient of a valedictory presentation at a pleasant little function on Friday. Mr. Scott, on behalf of the staff, presented Miss Murrell with an eiderdown as a token of esteem and goodwill, and expressed the staff's best wishes for her future happiness.
