Beau G-allante Wins More Easily Court Arma carried ££4 10s more than Beau Gallante in the Fordell Hack Hurdles, but that did not prevent the topweight from winning with ease. Royal
'Routine lead Beau Gallante and Court Arma at the first hurdle but Beau Gallante had taken the lead running up the straight the first time, piloting Royal Routine, Court Arma and Just an Idea past the stands and into the back stretch. Beau Gallante was two lengths ahead of Royal Routine at the six furlongs, with a gap of four lengths back to Court Arma and Just an Idea. Running across the top Beau Gallante increased his lead to enter the straight well clear, coming on to win, easing up, by five lengths from Royal Routine. Four lengths back was Court Arma, with Sorcery fourth and Just an Idea beaten off. Aiwai Again Best Juvenile. Scarf Dance was better backed than Aiwai for the Sedgebrook Juvenile but it was an easy rhee for the top weight, with tho favourite never in tho picture. Trim, Gaily and Fafner showed out ahead of Aiwai but the topweight was soon taken up to Trim and they were clear of Gaily, Scarf Dance and Pantoon after going a furlong. Across the top Trim and Aiwai were doing it well, but Trim was done with at the straight entrance, where Aiwai was definitely in charge, her nearest attendants being Gaily, Trim, Airini and Pontoon, Scarf Dance dropping back. Aiwai came on to win more easily than the half-length margin would suggest, with Airini a neck behind Gaily. Two lengths back was Pontoon, with a gap of live lengths back to Fafner, Amatory and Ripple. Parakino Beats Kia Tere Kia Tere was the Landguard Maiden favourite but the winner, the locallyowned Parakino, was nearly as well backed. Glynne Park went out to make the pace, being followed down the back by Kia Tere, Parakino and Koura Rua, and at the half-mile Parakino commenced to move up. At the straight entrance Parakino took the lead and came on to win easily by a short two lengths from Glynne Park, Kia Tere and Kourt Rua, who were almost in line, heads separating the trio. Red Sand Improves. Cloudy Bay was preferred to Red Sand and Hatuma in the Brunswick Hack Handicap but the favourite was beaten out of a place, the other pair returning the dividends. Blue Mauritius and Red Sand moved out ahead of Missal and Hatuma, but running into tho back stretch Blue Mauritius and Ha* tuma were clear of Mister Quex, Red Sand, Mazzini and Missal, the lastnamed soon dropping back to the rear. Mazzini ran up fast half a mile from home and followed Blue Mauritius at a three-length interval across the top and into the straight, where Mister Quex, Hatuma, Red Sand and Cloudy Bay was the order of the others. The leaders retired on the home turn, Red Sand coming round them rapidly to take the lead inside the distance, finishing on nlfcely to win by half a length from Hatuma. A neck back was Mister Quex, with Missal, Cloudy Bay and Blue Mauritius, in line, two lengths back. Le Grand Finishes Brilliantly.
The Buzzer was an even-money favourite for the Wanganui Hack Handicap, but the next pair in the betting, Le Grand and Corowa, returning the dividends. Reipar and Nightlass went into the lead from barrier-riso and showed the way past the stands, with a gap of four lengths back to Le Grand, The Buzzer and Corowa, Master Limond being last. Running down the back Master Limond commenced a fast forward move and so did The Buzzer, and at the half-mile Master Limond was in second placo, behind Nightlass, with Reipar and The Buzzer next. Le Grand had gone back to last at the straight entrance, where Nightlass, The Buzzer and Corowa were in lino, but once they were straightened up Lo Grand came fast on the outside, heading Corowa after the latter had settled The Buzzer. At the finish Le Grand was a. length and a-quarter in front of Corowa, with a similar distance back to The Buzzer. Master Limond was fourth. Taitoru Proves His Worth.
Taitoru carried just over £SO more than. Master Cyklon In the Earle Stakes and at the finish the pair were split by Grand Jury, who was at a good price. Full Throttle, Master Cyklon, Blue Garter and Entail was the order of the leaders as they ran out of the straight, Grand Jury being pulled into the rear position. At the six furlong Full Throttle and Blue Garter were clear of Master Cyklon and Taitoru, with Entail, Geitel and Black Friar next, but from the half-mile Grand Jury commenced a fast run which took him up to fifth place crossing the top, behind Full Throttle, Blue Garter, Taitoru and Master Cyklon. At the straight entrance Full Throttle was actually the leader but stopped quickly, Taitoru taking the lead from Blue Garter and Master Cyklon, with Grand Jury challenging on the outer and Geitel on the fonfce. The finish was a good one but Taitoru always had it on the others aiid he passed the judge a length and a-half ahead of Grand Jury who hung on gamely to beat Master Cyklon by a neck. Gietel was right up fourth, followed by tlluo Garter and Black Friar. Notium Beats the Favourite, Lavina, Lavina, Karl, Brazen King and Notium were backed in that order for the Campbell Handicap and finished hi the places, though not in the order named. Lavina moved out fast ahead of Karl and Refresher but Symcony quickly ran to the front and was three lengths ahead
of Lavina and Karl passing the three furlongs, with a couple of lengths back to Ned Cuttle and Brazen King. On the home turn Symcony was still well clear of Lavina, Karl, B-azen King Notium, but tho last-named finished fast ana eventually won by a good length from Lavina, who was a bare head in front of Brazen King and Karl (on the rails). There was a big gap back to Ned Cuttle and Symcony. Collodion Wins From Rustem. In a good betting race for the concluding event of the meeting Rustem was preferred to Collodion, but they finished,in the reverse order. Kia Ora lod out after they had broken the tapes once, and she was closely followed by Collodion, Etiquette, and Rustem, Kia Ora settling down to show the way across the top clear of Collodion, Etiquette, Rustem, and Merlyn. Collodion was with Kia Ora at tho straight entrance, and Rustem, Etiquette avd All Spirit (moving up last) were all in the picture. Collodion asserted his claim inside the distance and came on to win by two lengths from Rustem, tv***) w<as a similar distance ahead of Etiquette. All Spirit and Kia Ora were right up with the third horse, and there was a gap back to Merlyn.
