The patients in the Pahiatua Public Hospital are no longer being addressed by their surnames and in conformity with the practice adopted in many other hospitals, patients ' names will be prefaced by “Mr.,” “Airs.," or
“Miss/' as the case may be. Members of the Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Club will be participating in a mixed double Yankee tournament under sealed handicap to-day. Play will commence at 10 a.m. sharp and a re-draw will be made at 2 p.m. In a match for the Lett Buttons played on the Mangamutu Tennis Club's courts on Thursday evening, the holders, R. Thomson and Miss N. Etz (scr.) withstood a challenge from W. Darley end Miss L. Dick (owe 2), winning by 40 points to 37.
Members of the Mangamutu Tennis Club are reminded that a club day will be held to-day. A Yankee tournament will commence at 12.30 p.m. and members are asked to bring a plate. Harvesters have been very busy all around the district getting in their hay. Long hours have been put in as it seems even this time of the year the weather cannot be trusted.
