Apiti

From Oui Uwu Gorrespondenfc \ The change of weather to gloriously sunny days is being greatly appreciated throughout the district and there is much activity on the farms. One hears the sound’ of the tractor busy with delayed ploughing, and the shearing machines too, are busy as the last lambs are shorn. The harvesters are energetically making hay while the sun shines and mis is decidedly more to the farmers' liking than dodging rain showers while trying to save their winter fodder. Ensilage and haymaking operations have continued well into the evening hours and as the full moon has risen into view over the I(ua.hine ranges he has provided, an attractive setting, a short time after sunset, and one that even the busiest workers have found time to admire. Personal Owing to the death of a friend In Hastinngs, Miss Al. Cowan, of “Crossipal,” is at present in Hawke’s Bay staying with her aunt, Mrs. G. Ashworth. Mrs McNichol has as her guest her mother, Mrs Bottsche, from Wellington. Mrs W. F. Godfrey and family, from Palmerston North, are holidaying here and staying in Miss JO. M. Leslie's home. Mr and Airs C. J. Tucker, who have been residing in Apiti for some months, have recently shifted to Foxton. Mrs. "Harland is shifting from Norsewood road and will in future reside neorer the township. Air F. Noffke s flower garden is at present a very colourful spot with a profusion of summer blooms. In Particular the large collection of gladioli excite much admiration, and in a short time these blooms will be at their best. Jersey Oaks The judging of the Jersey Oaks at the Feilding Show on Tuesday will, of course, be a matter of great interest to the majority of Jersey breeders and doubtless there wiil be many from this district who, although not competitors, will nevertheless be veery interested spectators when the qualified animals come forward for judging.
