Palmerston North Chrysanthemum Club

MILES MEMORIAL TROPHY. A meeting of the Palmerston North Chrysanthemum Club was held iu St. Andrew’s session room on Thursday night, Mr F. Mclhuish being in the chair. Prior to the business, Mr Melhuish made feeling reference to the passing of Mr A. L. Miles, the former secretary of the club, the news of which, he said, had come as a shock. He spoke of the long period of service which Mr Miles had given the club. Mr H. L. Ilartog further voiced the club's regret, and eulogised the service Mr Miles had given, speaking of his many good qualities. A motion of sympathy was carried silence, and it was decided to place on record the long and valuable service of Mr Miles and the irreparable loss the club had sustained by his death. Mr C. J. Erenstrom, who was appointed secretary, is to write to the wife and family of the deceased gentleman expressing sympathy. It was decided that one of the trophies for the next show should be called the Miles Memorial Trophy, and that members be asked to contribute to its cost as a method of expressing their personal appreciation of their happy associations with Mr Miles. A demonstration was given by Mr J. Adamson on the re-potting of chrysanthemums, and also a lecture on their culture. Mr Adamson was accorded a vote of thanks.
