Cameraman Pays Tribute To New Zealand Girls

Ranking with the best of young women overseas in poise and personality, New Zealand girls are regarded as excellent studies from the cameraman’s viewpoint. That they are natural subjects for screen play is the opinion of a distinguished American cameraman, Mr Len H. Ross, who for the past six weeks has been in New Zealand securing films of- the Dominion's peculiarities and attractions for distribution as a travelogue through Messrs. Warner Brothers, Hollywood. “As far as cinematography is concerned, New Zealand girls aro much better subjects than Australians,” Mr. Roos told the Herald after his arrival In Auckland. “Apparently they are not as athletic as the average Australian girl, who seems to spend day after day in the surf or on the playing fields. They present an admirable appearance, however, and are appealingly feminine, well educated and possess the art of wearing their clothes with distinction.” Where scenes required animation to photograph well Mr Roos called upon New Zealand girls to play small roles to assist him. He said two girls commissioned from behind the counters of a Wellington department store had filmed perfectly and their success was characteristic of the results of similar •‘shots” he had taken in other parts of the Dominion.
