rKANKTON VALUES HAMILTON, January 26. There was a good yarding of all classes of fat sheep at the Frankton saleyards to-day, comijetition being firm at late rates. Buyers were offered a full entry of all classes of cattle, values showing an improvement on last week's quotations. The market for cow and heifer beef was fully sustained, prices being well up to recent quotations. A heavy entry of boner cows and potter bulls was keenly sought, values in this section showing a marked improvement. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of fat pigs, and a medium entry of stores and vveaners. With the exception of overweight baconers, which were slightly easier, prices remained on a par with last week's quotations. Stores and weaners were again keenly competed for and a total clearanco was effected at late rates. ASIIHURST SALE Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report a good yarding at Askhurst sulo on fcho 27th instant, the entry comprising principally shorn lambs, which met with good competition and sold at late rates, a total clearance resulting. Quotations: Sr. w.f. wether lambs, 15s lOd to 20s 7dj sh. b.f. lambs, 13s 4d to 19j Sd; fat wethers, 26s Id. Cattle: Fat cows, £1 to £4 17s Gd; yearling Jersey bull, £2 10s; potter bull, £3 2s Gd; heifer in milk, £4. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report a good yarding at their fortuightly Ashhurst sale when we yarded some 700 head of iambs and a light ontry of cattle. The demand for lambs of all classes was sound, values being on a par with late rates. Quotations: Woolly b.f. lambs, 16s to 18s; woolly ewe lambs, 23s to 30s Gd; medium sh. wether lambs, 13s to 16s; small sh. b.f. lambs, 10s to 12s 6d; fat ewes, 19s to 21s Gd. Cattle: Fat cows, £3 15s to £6; potter bulls, £4 to £5 ss. MARTON SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report a good yarding of 2200 sheep comprised principally of lambs of all i classes with odd pens of full mouth owes. Competition from the outset was animated and we report an excellent clearance at auction with values in all sections on a par with recent sales. Some of the chief sales effected were as under:— Shorn wether lambs, 17s, 17s Gd, 18s, 18s Gd to 20s 6d; shorn ewe lambs, 20s, 21s Gd, 22s 9d, 23s 3d, 24s 6d to 26s Gd; woolly ewe lambs, 275; medium shorn b.f. lambs, 15s, 16s, 16s 9d, 17s Gd to 18s 3d; full mouth ewes, 17s, 18s, 21 s 7d to 23s lOd. A small yarding of pigs sold freely at the following prices:— Weaner, 13s, 13s Gd, 14s, 15s to 16s 6d. TAIHAPE SALE The N.Z. Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report a yarding of 3250 sheep and 35 head of cattle at the above sale on Wednesday. The entry comprised principally lambs with an odd pen of breeding ewes and several pens
>f good wethers. Included in the iai entry were five or six pens of ewe lambs which elicited keen competition. The top price of the day for forward lambs was 22s 5d for 196 forward woolly b.f. lambs on account of the Dillon estate. W.f. wether lambs were inclined to be a little easier compared to our Mangaweka and Hunterville sales. We report practically a total clearance as follows: Best w.f. woolly lambs, 17s 9d to 19s Id; good medium do., 14s 2d to 15s 6d; small do., IDs 3d to 12s; best b.f. woolly lambs, to 22s sd; medium do., to 15s; best ewe lambs, 29s to 30s Id; good medium, 2-ls to 27s Id; small, to 16s sd; fat wethers, 26s Id to 275; forward do., 255; good 5-year ewes, to 30s Gd. Prime fat cows, £6 to £7 ss; medium do., to £4 10s; fat bullocks, £lO 3s; fat heifers, £6 14s; 15-mos. dairy heifers,, £2 19s; vealers, £2.
