Amateur Athletics in Feilding

EVENING SPORTS MEETING. Two spills marred the cycling races at thß evening sports meeting conducted by the Feilding Amateur Athletic Club on Thursday. Fortunately tho riders who came down escaped injury and they owed their misfortune to the condition of the track. Details of the results are as follows: Cycling. 880 yards cycle: T. Dewe 1, A. Eade 2, H. Cocker 3. Lamberton Challenge Button: Allen won by default. Bain Cup, open handicap, 2 miles, for which points are awarded as follows: First 4 points, second 3 points, third 2 points, for a finish 1 point: Allen 1, Stewart 2, Pedlcy 3. Athletics. 100 yards handicap: R. Lamberton and L. Haydon dead heat 1, T. Fowles

440 yards handicap: McCardle 1, Fowles 2, Haydon 3. Boys’ 440 yards walk: K. Heyes 1, A. Groombridgo 2, K. Nottle 3. Tho club hopes to hold au electric light sports meeting in the near future, and the date will be announced just as Boon as tho club is granted a permit. All the desired dates suggested to tho New Zealand Centre by tho local club have proved impracticable as other fixtures had been booked for those evenings.
