Art Gallery Wing
COMPLETION EXPECTED BY END OF FEBRUARY.
(Special to “Tiines.") NAPIER, Last Night.
The new wing of the Hawke's Bay Art Gallery and Museum in Napier is now expected to be completed by the end of February, although the finishing date was set in the contract at before last Christmas. The new portion of the building will not contain wall panelling or ceiling for the present; it is hoped that sufficient funds will be raised later to complete this work. The committee is making an effort to secure on loan or by gift to the museum several of the caricatures by W. A. Bowring, who once lived in Napier. He was famous for his caricatures. There are several Namier residents who also have copies. It is hoped to obtain a representative collection for the opening of the new portion of tho building.
The stamp collection presented by the Postmaster-General has now been fullyy arranged by Mr Allan Beck, and there remains but one set of stamps to complete the section before 1880. These are a set of early New Zealand issues of Victorian stamps, known as full-faced queens, and it is hoped that they may be obtained locally.
