Mr G. N. Rees, of Hastings, is visiting Wellington. Mr A. L. Curry, senior announcer at 3YA, Christchurch, is spending his annual leave in the North Island.
The Right Rev. H. W. Williams, Bishop of Waiapu, who has been on a. visit to the East Coast district and who attended the Science Congress in Auckland, has returned to Napier. Mr P. Garvey, of the Hastings Railway Department staff, leaves on Saturday on transfer to New Plymouth. At an evening held at Mr J. Carmichael's residence, the opportunity was taken of farewelling Mr Garvey, when ho was presented with a handsome clock by Mr T. Martin, on behalf of the Hastings railway staff. Mr Garvey suitably replied. Mr N. F. Ford, a member of the staff of the Lands and Deeds Office at Napier, has received notice of his transfer to Dunedin, and will probably leave Napier next month. Mr Ford takes an enthusiastic interest in swimming, being a member of the Napier Swimming and Life-Saving Club and of the Hawke's Bay branch of the Royal LifeSaving Society of New Zealand.
