She was born in Denmark in 1864, and came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Dunbolt in 1873 along with her parents. She resided in the Rangitikei district until 1887, when she married the late Mr Hansen, then moving to Mangatainoka for two years and thence to Ngaturi, where she had resided ever since, 47 years. Her deafh severed tha last link with the pioneer days, all the other earliest settlers having either died or moved away years ago. At the time she moved to Ngaturi the district was all bush, and only a rough track to Ngaturi, thus having to put up with all the trials of the early days. Mrs Hhnseu is survived by four sons, V. H. (Hunterville), W. T. (Dannevirke), E. W. (Makuri), and O. C. (Ngaturi). The funeral, which took place on January 11th, was largely attended. The pall-bearers were Messrs E. P. Badger, A. McE. Mason, J. Stewart, A. A. Vaughan, K. Eglinton and J. Dick.
