WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. From Our Owu Correspondent Mrs E. Miller presided at the Jan uary meeting of the W.I. 'which was held in the school on Thursday afternoon and took the form of a children's picnic. As there was very little business to be dealt with, tho members could devote the biggest part of the time to tho children and after taking part in various races, they each re- \ ceived a small prize. Miss It. Elliott r was steward for the competitions which L were judged by Mesdames J. Johnson r and J. Kilgour. The results were:—A ► flower from my garden, Mrs E. Miller ? 1, Miss M. Pettigrew and W. Jenseu ► equal, second and third; date loaf, Mrs P 11. Jensen 1 and 2, Miss E. Malcolm 3; ► lettuce, Mrs F. Jensen 1, Mrs D. HoP gau 2, Miss E. Jensen 3. Afternoon tea ► was served by the young ladies. The fc next meeting is to be held at the rcsiP deuce of Mrs W. Jensen who is bringr i°g patterns and instructions on making p articles from felt hats (kindly lent by ► Mrs Duncan) for members to see. Miss t M. Pettigrew is to be in charge of the r monthly competitions which are to be i a collection of flowers (not more than p ten in number and one of each), a dress ► not costing more than five shillings to P be worn by the maker, and a marble ► cake. There is also to be a suggestion P box. Members are reminded that P nominations for the now committee are S to be handed to the secretary at the : next meeting. There is to bo a bring P and buy stall to help swell the funds. P A vote of thanks was passed to the ► hostesses and judges at the conclusion P of the meeting. ► Personal. P Miss Phyllis Waterson, of Linton, is P staying at Table Flat with Mrs J. P Kearney. P Master Colin Hogan, of Apiti, is ► staying with Mr and Mrs D. Hogan.
