Moderate Yarding of Fat Sheep at Stortford
PRIME HEAVY WETHERS 29/(Special to “Times.”) HASTINGS, Jan. 27. The market showed little change for Tat slieep at Stortford Lodge to-day when a moderate yarding came fo. ward. The offering included some fine quality pens, outstanding being a fine draft of ewes on account of Mr. D. J. Holden, Mangateretere, which made 24/-. Exceptionally prime heavy wethers brought 29/-, with lighter sorts making 26/3. The top lines of prime lambs were again of a high standard, making to 28/9. Medium weights realised to 23/6. * Secondary quality entries all sold in the vendors' favour, and vendors readily met the market. Realisations were made as under:— On account of Mr. D. Holden, Mangateretere, 50 extra-prune, heavy ewes, an attractive entry, brought 24/-. Twenty-two prime-quality Downzross ewes of good weights made 22/3. Five extra-heavy, early-shorn, young ewes, prime finished, made 22/6. On account of Mr. W. Sinclair, Hahora road, a fine pen of woolly primequality Border Leicester lambs made to 28/6 for tho heaviest. On account of Mr. John Tait, Bay View, 21 medium to heavy, very early shorn ewes brought 21/10. Down from T© Aute, 'nine extraheavy prime-quality wethers brought 29/-. Eight heavy prime-quality Downcross lambs, outstanding quality entry, were purchased by Mr. J. B. Fletcher at 28/-. An entry of rough-looking ewes, blade shorn but of prime quality, brought 22/-. A bid of 26/3 wa£ offered for o 5 medium to heavy prime wethers. Seven medium ewea realised 19/10, _
