Mrs N. H. Mackie, Fitzherbert avenue, is a visitor to Wanganui for race week.

Mrs J. Hepburn (Palmerston North) is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Glynan, Bruce terrace, Akaroa.

Mr. and Mrs. Burn and their two daughters, of Rangiwahia, are visitors to Palmerston North, where they are the guests of Mrs. Burn’s parents.

Mr J. Severiusen, of Hawke's Bay, ar.d the Misses Nora and Esie Severin' sen, were tho guests of Mr and Mrs N. P.Nieseu for a few days early this week at Tiakitahuna.

Miss Edna Pink who was recently appointed chief pharmacist at the Pubi lie Hospital on the resignation of Miss B. Neagle, has resumed duty after three weeks' vacation.

His Excellency, the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway, who will be visiting the Wanganui Jockey Club’s suminei meeting to-day and Saturday, will be the guest of Mr and Mrs Robert Levin, “Westella," Feilding.

Owing to her very large dancing connection in this district, Miss Gwen Gibbs (Mrs G. M. McCaskill), will not be leaving Palmerston North w’hen Captain McCaskill is transferred to Napier, but will continue her Broadway. School of Dancing as usual.

A London correspondent writes that Miss Vivienne Blamires, L.A.8., of Feilding, has made good use of the scholarship she won in New Zealand just over two years ugo by gaining the highest marks in the piano, violin, and singing sections of the Associated Boards' examinations. She has been awarded her A.R.C.M. by the Royal College of Music and has been granted an extension of her scholarship for a further year.

Miss Phyllis Nicholls left Palmerston North yosterday for Wellington, where she is taking up a clerical position. Miss Nicholls will be sadly missed jn guiding circles. She was one of the original guides in the association having been actively associated ever since as a Guide Patrol Leader and Guider, being lately Captain of St. Paul's Company. Miss Nicholls had won high honour in her work having had the unique disfadetion of gaining the only gold cord in this district. It is to be sincerely hoped she will be abl© to continue in this movement to which she has given such good service.
