“Since I liavo been iu New Zealand I have received a batch of 37 letters from overseas and tho postage stamps ha.d been removed from every one,’ said Dr F. Stamm, of Switzerland, whilo talking to a reporter in Hamilton recently. “I have never met a similar experience in any place I have been to. The letters were received under one cover, which, when opened, disclosed the fact that all the stamps, some of them valuable air mail stamps, had been carefully xemoved. Some of them appeared to have been soaked off. I have made inquiries to tho authorities, but as yet no clue to the identity of the offender has been disclosed.”
