High Values Again for Store Lambs
BRIGHT MARKET AT STORTFORD.
GOOD QUALITY ENTRY.

Late high-level values for store lambs were fully maintained at Stortford Lodge to-day, when a bright market prevailed. To-day’s offering included a larger percentage ~of good-quality lambs than came forward last week, and these met with widespread competition.
Several pens of second-quality lambs made good selling. Fat and for* ward lambs made to 22/8. Shorn white-faced wether lambs were not of the same quality as the tops offered at Waipukurau yesterday, but made good sales. Some better-grown woolly ewe lambs came forward, the tops making 28/9.
Breeding ewes were on offer in larger numbers to-day, when Taheke station four and six-tooth ewes brought 33/and four-year-old ewes off the same property made 30/-. Five and six-year-old sorts, well mouthed, brought to 26/-, but poor-mouthed lines were as cheap as 20/* and Blow to sell.
The total yarding consisted of 22,000 head, with lambs again predominating. Fat and forward wethers were in short supply, and lacked the quality of last week's yarding. Values as the sale progressed wore fully maintained, with all lots of lambs ready for putting on to rape in keen demand.
In from Craggy Range,, 136 smallgrown woolly white-faced lambs, in light condition, realised 15/2. An entry of 90 small medium-grown black-faced lambs, carrying quite a lot of condition, brought 18/-. On account of Taheke Station, 441 medium-grown shorn white-faced wether lambs, in healthy order, were sold at 16/3.
An entry of 254 nicely-grown earlyshorn two-tooth wethers in forward order, having boen well done, realised 24/8 in good competition. On account of Taheke Station, 200 shorn white-faced wether lambs, being a useful carryover proposition, brought 15/1.
From the same source, 541 shorn white-faced wether lambs, in lighter order than the previous pens and looking their worst,, being just off the road, brought 14/5.
An entry of 335 four and five-year-old ewes, all guaranteed sound mouthed, in low condition, did not attract any attention to bring in a slow sale 21/-. A line of 109 medium-grown twotooth wethers, in light condition, met with slow selling at 21/-. An entry of 172 woolly wether lambs, quite well covered, brought 17/9. In from Eskdale, small to medium Down cross lambs in fair order made 17/6.
A line of station-bred cull ©wee, in poor order, made’ 13/2. An entry of 152 small to mediumgrown black-faced lambs in quite good order, useful for putting on to rape, brought 18/-. A line of 117 extra-forward blackfaced lambs, in excellent order, including a good percentage of killable sorts, made 22/8.
On account of Mr H. .M. Campbell, Horonui, 113 woolly wliite-faeed ewe lambs, in very healthy order, realised 25/6. On account of Taheke Station, S 6 five-year-old breeding ewes, good mouthed but uneven in condition, the best being quite good, made 24/6.
Also from Taheke Station, 550 five-year-old breeding ewes, well framed and good mouthed, in sound order, made 25/>
An entry of 212 Taheke four and sixtooth breeding ewes, in light store condition, but would improve quickly once off the road, realised 33/-. On account of Mr J. Taylor, Puterino, 130 well-woolled medium-grown white-faced lambs, in quite fair order, realised 17/9.
On account of M r M. Orr, Tangoio, 110 small to medium-grown shorn Romney cross wether lambs made 15/1. On account of Mr W. Kinross White, Omarunui, 299 well-framed early-shorn five and six-year-old breeding ewes, well mouthed and in splendid condition, being sound in constitution, made 26/1. On account of Taheke Station, 322 early-shorn forward condition wethers, Including a few on the light 6ide, sold at 24/6.
In from Otamauri, 125 woolly whitefaced wether lambs, which were rather gathered up in appearance, brought 15/6. Ou account of Mr John Walker, Patoka, 100 nicely-grown black-faced lambs, in very forward condition, having been well done, brought 22/7. An entry of 190 well-framed quite early-shorn five-year-old breeding ewes in very good store order brought 28/-. A draft of 250 nicely-grown blackfaced lambs in very forward order, which should finish, quickly on rape, made 21/7.
An entry of 154 well-framed five and six-year-old ewes, rather uneven and pcor-mouthed, made 20/1.
A line of 204 well-grown nicelytroolled white-faced ewe lambs in fresh, attractive condition sold at 28/4. Down from Waiwhare and off the rape, 356 early-shorn white-faced wether lambs in good order, sound and gooddoing, were sold at 17/3. A line of 253 nicely-grown blackfaced rape lambs in healthy condition and good order made 19/9. An entry of 213 small-grown woolly white-faced ewe lambs in from Craggy Range brought 21/6.
On account of Mr J. McGregor, Kanuka, Rissington, 225 woolly whitefaced wet Ker lambs, some being in very good condition, made 19/6. An entry of 190 fat and forward black-faced lambs in splendid order made 22/1.
A further entry on account of Mr McGregor, Kanuka, 202 woolly whitefaced wether lambs, smaller grown than the previous pen, made 17/1. On account of “Paututu,” Wairoa, JL6O medium-grown early-shorn two* tooth wethers in good doing order made 23/-*
On account of Mr D. Beattie, Kaiwaka, 172 woolly Romney-cross wether lambs in good medium storo order brought 18/6.
On account of Mr M, Orr 4 Tangoio a an entry of five and six-year-old breeding ewes, generally in very light store order but quite fair-mouthed, made 22/5. On account of Taheke Station, 318 four-year-old breeding ewes in good order were sold at, 30/v
