CONCERN FOR AUSTRALIA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.-—Copyrigh t. LONDON, Jau. 26. Speaking at a dinner of the lru-, perial Industries Club tho Hon. Sir H. I’. Colebateh, Agent-General for -f'estcru Australia, pointed out that the birth-rate in both Germany and Italy was steadily diminishing despite every effort to drive woman back into tho home and confine her in what was supposed to be hex* natural province, namely the rearing of children, whereas in Russia, where woman was allowed to do as she pleased, an unprecedented birth-rate had been established. Sir H. P. Colebateh referred to the “tragic” fall of Australia’s birth-rate and declared it was such as might cause anxiety even in an over-populated country like England.
