The resumption of play was again delayed by rain and the ground was still waterlogged when the captains of the English and South Australian teams inspected it at 12.30. They decided to make another inspection at 2.15 when the match was definitely abandoned. The Test wicket is damp, but this is not expected to affect the pitch for the 3ta:t of the game on Friday. VICTORIA BEATS N.S.W. Received Tuesday, 10.30 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 26. In the Sheffield Shield match against New r South Wales, Victoria iu their second innings made 340 (Hassett 68, Sievcrs 76). Cheethani took 3 for 43, Hynes 2 for 80 and White 2 for 58. New South Wales in their second inn ings lost two for 129 (Cheetham 62, Beattie 35). O'Brien and Gregory each took a wicket. Victoria won on the first innings by 32 runs.
