Harbour Control At New Plymouth

INDEPENDENT COMMISSION TO INVESTIGATE. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. The comparative advantages of Harbour Board and Railway Department control of cargoes at the port of New Plymouth will be investigated by an independent commission appointed by the Harbour Board. The subject has for years been a source of public debate and will be scrutinised in a report fo be compiled by a consulting engineer and an accOuutant. In reaching Us decision at a meeting to-day the board considered that the results of the investigation would finally close the question and would also be of assistance in formulating further plans for wharf construction and dredging. It was, however, made clear that the board was not committing itself to auv immediate action in accepting the findings of the commission.
