Visits of Oversea University Professors

TO OVERCOME PRESENT ISOLATION. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A proposal that consideration be given to a plan lor arranging annual visits lo New Zealand by one or two university professors or lecturers from overseas was adopted by the New Zealand University {Senate. The mover, Professor H. G. Denham, stated that under the scheme the visitors would give short courses of lectures in various centres and would hold meetings and discussions with the staffs of university colleges. This would do much to overcome the present isolation of New Zealand university life. If the Australian universities would cooperate a saving on travelling expenses would be made. Professor Denham thought there was a clear case for an appeal to the Government for funds. He understood the Carnegie Corporation unofficially was favourable and might grant a subsidy.
