Christchurch Gas Company’s Profits
DECREASED BY HIGHER TAXATION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Although wages and materials costs were lower and revenue higher increased taxation and general charges resulted in a slightly reduced net profit for the Christchurch Gas, Coal and Coke Company for the year ending December 31, 1936. The sales of gas, etc., were £182,144, against £180,583 in the previous period, but the net profit Was £23,124 against The dividend is maintained at 7 per cent.
An increase of 733,900 cubic feet of gas, which brought the total sales to
427,383,800 cubic feet, is considered by the directors to be satisfactory considering the closing of the premises of commercial users on Saturday mornings.
