From Our Own Correspondent. Although the farmers are still persevering with harvesting work, the weather is anything but suitable, winds of gale force and very heavy rain being experienced alternately. Wool growers who sold their clips at the January sale received very satisfactory prices. As a result of the high prices ruling for ivool, farmers are more keen than usual to shear their lambs. Sheep-work Is mainly beeing devoted to the preparation of rams for the fairs. One Romney breeder has already disposed of his quota privately and obtained excellent prices. Windy weather has peen responsible for an erratic cream supply on dairy farms in exposed positions. The Pohangina river rose rapidly when very heavy rain fell recently, but has now almost subsided to its normal volume. Holiday campers who have been staying in the district have tieher returned home or travelled to other holiday resorts as their plans permit. Mrs Weekes and Miss Margaret Weekes are holidaying at Plimmerton. Miss K. Caldwell, of Kopane, was a visitor to her homo during the week. Miss B. Blixt, of Palmerston North, spent Anniversary Day with her parents. .Mrs G. Ritchie and family aro staying Vith Mr and Mrs H. Whitehead, senior. xir and Mr*» and family were
