A rominder is given that general entries for the Dannevirke A. and P. show closed with the secretary, P.O. Box 38, Dannevirke, this evening, but those who for various reasons could not get their entries in by then can avail themselves of the privilege of making late entries up to 8 p.m. on the 29th inst., when they definitely close. The only entries which close on the morning of the beginning of the show are the

LOCAL BODY AMALGAMATION NO ACTION BY BOROUGH COUNCIL The finance committee reported to the meeting of the Dannevirke Borough Council that it had received a copy oi the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill and that it had resolved to recommend that no action be taken in tho meantime in respect of the matter. Tho Mayor (Mr. E. Gibbard) said the comniitteo had given careful consideration to tho subject and was of opinion that it was not desirable to take any action in regard to amalgamation in the meantime. The report was adopted. BOROUGH EMPLOYEES RETIRING The finance committee reported to the meeting of the Dannevirke Borough Council as follows: “Li pursuance of the council's decision to retire employees upon reaching the age of 65 years to take effect from April 28, 1937, it was resolved that the following employees be notified of the termination of their services upon that date: Messrs J. McKinnon, T. Gilmour, C. W. Tacon, A. Miller, O. J. Olsen.' ‘ Tho report was adopted without comment.
