Women’s Institutes

lKIMBOLTON. Mrs. Barnicoat presided at the January meeting which was held in the hall owing to the unsettled weather conditions, instead of in the school grounds as previously arranged. As there was no demonstration, two amusing competitions had been arranged, the prize winners being Mrs. Banks, senr., and Miss B. Lewis. It is hoped that Miss Grant will be able to attend the February meeting and tell of her trip to Washington. The competition for a slice of Christmas cake was won by Miss J. Lewis. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Harris, Hair, Scott and Miss Lawson. The February competitions will be for collection of cut flowers, sandwich, d’oyley and a gingerbread.
